*We do not refinish tiled shower floors because it's the nature of a shower pan to hold moisture, which can eventually work its way up through the grout lines and cause the floor surface to bubble and peel.  Therefore, we install a new tile shower floor instead when refinishing shower wall tile.

**If your bathroom or kitchen sink is a standard size "drop-in", you can probably buy a new one for less than the cost of refinishing, so unless you have no choice but to refinish because your kitchen or bathroom sink because it is set in tile, marble, or granite, we recommend buying a new sink.

Additional Options and Charges

Repairs:  If there is damage (chips, rust, nicks, cracks, pinholes, etc.) on a surface that is going to be refinished, the damage must be repaired prior to refinishing.  Repairs start at $25, and can go up depending on the severity of the damage.  Our experience has been that most surfaces do have some damage, but is generally minimal.

Sending us digital pictures via email at JimSharp@SharpRefinishing.com helps us greatly to determine a cost range for repairs, eliminating an extra trip for assessment and saving time in your receiving a bid and scheduling the job.

The 'Return Trip':  Part of the preparation before refinishing is (1) removing the caulk between the last row of tile and the bathtub, (2) protecting the immediate surrounding area with paper and statically-charged plastic, and (3) removing the drain and overflow in order to get a complete surface to spray.  The day after refinishing, you have the option of removing this plastic/paper, re-caulking the tub yourself, and installing a new drain/overflow ... or we can come back to do it for a return trip charge of $75.  Taking the paper down and re-caulking is certainly something homeowners can do, but most prefer that we do it for them so it is a turnkey project.

Drain/Overflow:  Because your refinished tub is going to look brand new again, most homeowners opt for a shiny new drain and overflow cover in the tub after it has been refinished, and we will do this for you at no extra labor charge if you have chosen the 'return trip'.  You can purchase the drain and overflow yourself that you want us to install, or we can buy it for you.  If you want us to buy it, the cost of the drain and overflow is determined by the type of finish you choose (chrome, brass, nickel-plated, etc.), and prices start at $25 for chrome, which is the most common finish.

Color Choices

You have lots of color choices.  Although most people simply choose white or off-white, our refinishing process is available in just about any solid color that Kohler or American Standard manufactures.  We also offer the hugely popular MultiSpec colors, which give the appearance of Corian, Marble, Granite, and Stone.  MultiSpec colors are available in 75 color schemes, and are most often applied to bathroom and kitchen wall tile and countertops.

Necessary Plumbing Work

If you're having only your bathtub refinished, please try to remove the tub drain long before your scheduled refinishing date just to make sure it can indeed be removed.  We ask homeowners to do this because sometimes, if a tub is very old or the drain has never been removed before, it may not be possible to remove it without breaking it.  Another reason to make sure the drain is removable is because you may find out at that time that you have a leak or some other issue that will need to be fixed before the tub can be refinished.

Before bathroom sinks and countertops can be refinished, the plumbing fixtures must be removed.  Since we do not have the plumber's tools or expertise to do this type of work, you may choose to do this work yourself or use your own plumber.

Payment Methods

Because we are a small, family business, payment is due upon receipt of work done, and may be made by personal check or cash.
